Users review: Hercules starring Dwayne The Rock Johnson absolutely delivers on its promise to be entertaining. I went into this film with half-hearted expectations, thinking that Dwayne Johnson wouldnt fit the part well, I fully expected this to be an entire film of blood and fighting. This is far from correct. The writers of this film are fantastic going for almost A knights tale vibe to it with a ton of comedy. I honestly found myself laughing out loud much more than I found myself getting drilled with constant WWE style fighting like there was in The legend of hercules, mind you this is a very good thing. The laid back style of this film is what makes it so great, sadly this film failed in the box office, hopefully folks can see the potential and eat it up on bluray/DVD.

Users review: After a couple of very bad recent movies, finally Adam Sandler did what he is doing the best. A family movie with kids, holiday and Drew Berrymore! it is almost impossible for a movie to be disappointing with these two. The jokes were funny, the kids were acting really good, musics were great. I saw the movie with my family and we all enjoyed (as Sandler fans) movie. Users review: I am a hard core movie fan and I was impressed after watching the trailer of MARY KOM and decided that I have to watch this movie. I have always been a big fan of sports movies be it Chak De India, Iqbal or Lagaan. The movie is a Biopic of Indian Boxer Mary Kom who hails from Manipur. How she becomes Boxer, relationship with her father, struggles in career, discovering her husband and other hurdles faced on road to being a champion. What works in the movie?Acting: A brilliant portrayal by Priyanka chopra s Mary Kom, she has worked really hard for the film and you can clearly see that effort visible on the screen both physically (Training) and mentally (Acting). Cinematography: I must really applaud the way the cinematographer has pictured the boxing ring, locations, moods, emotions, lighting. Really good job. Music & BGM: The nom is, sports movies shouldnt have songs but major movie going population in India is accustomed to songs and the Director has managed to place the songs subtly in the movie intelligently. What doesnt work?Editing: Editing is very important aspect of the movie, it majorly determines the big factor length The movie is about 2 hour 5 minutes and for a Biopic I thought this wasnt enough, it needed to be a bit long.Fight sequences: I was disappointed with the fight sequences in the movie. The boxing match that takes place in the ring should have been better choreographed, cmon? You are showing a world champion boxer you got to get it as close to reality as possible. No comparisons but see the movie Million Dollar baby.Direction and Screenplay: I think the director should have worked better on the screenplay which keeps the audiences hooked to the screen; there were moments where I was not interested on whats going in the screen. Its a challenging job for the director to capture a biopic as you cannot make major alterations to the story and you have to keep it as close to the reality.After watching this movie my respect towards Priyanka as an Actor has increased to the next level and I knew Mary Kom is a boxer in India but after this movie she holds highest respect as a sports person in my world. I give this movie a 7/10 and I would recommend a onetime watch. Oh and more point: You should stand up at the end of the movie if you are an Indian

Users review: I would consider myself a Wes Anderson fan, however in saying that, I have only seen a handful of his movies. I was very excited for The Grand Budapest Hotel, because of its excellent cast, the fact its directed by Wes Anderson and just by how unique it looked. After watching The Grand Budapest Hotel, I can confidently say that its my new favourite Wes Anderson film, and probably his best.As I was hoping, the story to The Grand Budapest Hotel is very original and unique, some may even say strange. And as the movie goes on, the story only gets wilder and wilder. The film is often very hilarious, with some seriously funny dark humour thrown in there as well. Characters are extremely well written, with the bond between Gustave and Zero being the backbone of the whole movie as its so well written. The Grand Budapest Hotel features an odd narrative structure that works very well for the film, again adding to the uniqueness and freshness of it. I wasnt exactly sure how the story would play out, as I purposely avoided all promotional materiel so I would know as little as possible before watching. This was a great benefit to my viewing experience as I loved everything I saw, and felt as though nothing was spoiled from watching too many trailers.I havent been a huge fan of most of Ralph Fiennes work since his phenomenal performance in 1993?s Schindlers List, but this is easily his best performance since then. He proves he can do comedy just as well as he can do drama, providing a perfect balance of both. Newcomer Tony Revolori is excellent as well. I wont get into the whole supporting cast because theres so many who were all so great, but I was particularly impressed by Willem Dafoe, Adrien Brody, Harvey Keitel, Jude Law and Saoirse Ronan.The Grand Budapest Hotel is definitely a Wes Anderson film, down to its very core. If you know his style, then you known what to expect, as this movie is full of it. Thankfully though, its not a case of style over substance, with a great story to accompany the gorgeous visuals. The colour palette is beautiful; its nice to see lots of bright colours when so many other films are so dark and dreary. The set design and costumes are perfect, and theres so much attention to detail within the sets. The cinematography is phenomenal, and I really like how the film was presented in different aspect ratios.You really cant go wrong with this film. Its probably Wes Andersons best film, it has gorgeous visuals, excellent acting and a wonderful story. If youre a fan of Wes Andersons previous work, you cannot miss this, and even if youre not a fan you should go and see it anyway.

Users review: (59%) A sub Hitchcockesq thriller that for the most part entertains, but fails to be anything other than a decent standard thriller. Once the slightly absurd premise is defined in pretty much the first 10 mins, the movie then starts to warm up quite nicely. And because Kidmans character only has a 24 hour memory the vulnerability she finds herself in is quite understandably terrifying, as well as more than a little saddening. Besides the very routine nature of the movie, my biggest complaint is that it just doesnt try hard enough in bending the mind, as this could have at least put in something strange, different or unsettling that would have set it apart from the rest, even if it was just one single scene. In the end though this is a good little watch, the acting from the strong cast is better than the movie probably deserves, the direction/writing is perfectly fine, and its certainly not a redundant picture. One to either cheap ticket or rent if youre interested, and even if you do get to see Nicoles naked bottom, I still cant recommend anyone spending too much money watching this.

Users review: A little late with this review. I saw this the weekend it came out but did not have time for a review until now. The worlds end marks the third film in Nick and Simons trilogy. This time around the boys are battling an army of killer robots. Simon and Nick have switched roles for this film in which Simon plays the bumbling idiot. Simon recruits his old high school friends to conquer an epic night of drinking that they failed to do years prior, however now everyone is grown up except for Simons character who still lives in the past. However they soon realize the town has been taken over by a sinister robot army. Basically if you enjoyed either Shaun of the dead or Hot Fuzz you will love this film. Hot Fuzz is my favourite comedy of all time so far, however i would rank this movie right up there with Shaun of the dead. The humour in this film is very subtle compared to their previous two films. They try some new things with this film and the result is a crazy mass effect inspired ending. This is a great film to end the summer, and while it may not be everyones cup of tea, it will surely be a cult classic in time.Rating: 8/10

Users review: I know, I know. This will incontrovertibly attract a lot of hate from die-hard Dark Knight fans, but guess what? Im one of those who thinks Nolan is the epitome of how to make a perfect superhero spectacle. Or at least, I was until tonight. This film will blow your mind. Quite literally, it is jam-packed with edge-of-your-seat action thrills and pure comedic gold. Dont be expecting a moody companion piece like that of Nolans trilogy, or Man of Steel. It keeps more in touch with Avengers, although its a lot funnier and really builds upon the upcoming Infinity Gauntlet arc. The actors are incredible, matching the character developments, the dialogue and action sequences are spectacular and the visual effects should surely earn a nod come Oscar time, as Id personally put them on par with those seen in the recent Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. The run length compliments the well-scripted pacing of the movie itself, whilst plenty of interesting secondary characters litter Guardians with an ensemble cast that has exceeded anything yet seen in the Marvel/DC movie worlds. I dont pertain to the DC versus Marvel argument, but this masterpiece alone has certainly put Marvel on the front foot in terms of cinema outings, far surpassing the very enjoyable Man of Steel and, I believe, edging out Nolans trilogy and then some. I thoroughly recommend this for any with a borderline sci-fi/superhero love, and advise you to remain for the tantalising post-credits scene, although many of the non-comic fans might not get the references. Easily a perfect ten out of ten for me.

Users review: Laika has been well known of their artistic talent to bring back the old-time style of making an animation by creating different emotions of the characters through small figurines and hand movements in a designed board, but unfortunately and surprisingly that the concept and screenplay for this third repeating effort seems to be a little bit underwhelming. While ParaNorman looks much more fun, interesting and appealing to general audiences, though boxtrolls themselves are adorable enough to attract the kids, they are dull and the slow progressing of the first half of the film might bored the parents. However, the strong casts who voice all the characters in the film especially Ben Kingsley as the villain though looks hilarious, but great enough to make the second half the film, at least to look more attracting, bringing on an inspiring message to remind audiences to be the real of yourself.

Users review: Only Lovers Left Alive is one of the most breath-taking films I have ever seen. As a fan of the more artistically styled film I was captivated throughout. The entire film is quiet and dark with an eerie feeling of timelessness that matches the souls as old as time itself, Adam (Tom Hiddleston) and Eve (Tilda Swinton). The film centres around their eternal love, highlighting the modern world through the light, easy-going spirit of Eve and the tortured romantic Adam. Despite being set in the modern day it is completely unlike vampire films of recent times, presenting a visually beautiful story of true romance.Artistic is the epicentre of this film. It is entirely set at night so it has a sleepy, soft half-light, in the empty, mysterious streets of Detroit and Tangier. The script has a minimal feel, giving the impression that every word is important, and there are some great moments of dark comedy scattered throughout, mixed with cultural and literary references and philosophical observations. Everything about it is slow and measured and perfected, even down to the synchronised movements of Adam and Eve. The acting is stunning, with a particularly beautiful performance from Tom Hiddleston, who carries the role of the suicidal vampire who has grown tired of the disrepairs of the world with a darkly sexy air. Tilda Swinton provided a light to Hiddlestons dark, offering a rescue at the darkest of moments. There was yet more contrast with Eves wild and unpredictable younger sister (Mia Wasikowska) and the wise, worldly Marlowe (John Hurt). The clash of characters adds to the charm of the story and the style. The film is slow-paced but contrary to other opinions I didnt feel that it dragged on in any way. It presents a lot of truths about current society which really made me think. Naturally, it remains true to some vampire film stereotypes: dark, sexy and romantic. If youre a Tom Hiddleston fan in particular I recommend this, his portrayal of such a flawed character is simply stunning. However even if youre impartial, I would highly recommend this film, everything about it is breath-taking and gorgeous. It achieves artistic without clouding the message of the film and draws you in to its perfect eternity and escapism.

Users review: Intriguing indie sci-fi. Brenton Thwaites, Olivia Cooke and Beau Knapp play three 20-somethings who track a computer hacker to the middle of nowhere in Nevada. There they encounter... something. When Thwaites awakes, he finds himself surrounded by government scientists in hazmat suits (led by Laurence Fishburne) who are studying him in a secret, underground lab. His only immediate thought is to rescue Cooke (his girlfriend), who seems to be in a coma, and escape. Fishburne, in his infuriating calm way, warns him against it, but the lack of answers doesnt inspire him to stay still. The first half of this is great. Id easily call it one of the best of the year. Unfortunately, the second half feels like a different film. Its still pretty entertaining, but a lot of the stuff that made the first half so mysterious and suspenseful gets jettisoned for more familiar scenarios. Id still heartily recommend it to any sci-fi fan.

Users review: Just got back from the 7pm showing. More than 30 people in the theater. Had three theaters showing it in the Twin Cities Minneapolis/St Paul Minnesota.I have to say this third and final installment was the best of the three in terms of capturing the philosophical essence of the novel. They used narration to good effect, and used the device I think is the most effective ... having philosophical discussions amongst themselves rather than some contrived debate or speech. Though John Galts radio speech came off well condensed, capturing the spirit of the three hour version.My only nit in casting was that I thought Joaquim de Almeida was quite a bit too old for the part. He looked more like Dagnys grandfather than her childhood boyfriend. My favorite DAnconia was Jsu Garcia of part I. He had the young playboy look.
